ANALYST, a sensory and psychosensory market research institute, is a pioneer in sensory research in Israel, providing a broad range of  professional sensory research and training services on a regular ongoing long-term basis to a wide variety of leading local companies and international concerns in the food, toiletry and detergent industries.

 

The company, established 30 years ago under private ownership, has a permanent staff of 15 employees with professional background in the fields of marketing, food engineering, consumer behavior, and statistics.

 

The Quantitative Sensory Research Unit specializes in sensory studies. The department's services include:

  • Advanced taste tests
  • Sniff tests
  • Difference tests
  • Home usage tests
  • Screening tests

 

The unit specializes in population segmentation by sector (general, ultra-Orthodox, Arab, and Russian) and/or  age (adults, teens, children) and gender, consumer habit, and socio-economic status.

 

The Qualitative Research Unit specializes in a range of qualitative studies designed to determine stands and perceptions. The department's services include:

  • Sensory and general focus groups
  • Culinary focus groups – using advanced kitchen stations while observing and questioning trial users (Kitchen Connect)
  • In-depth interviews

 

The Psychosensory Research Unit researches the entire set of components in a product's marketing mix (sensory, perceptual, and image parameters). The department's services include:

  • CTU – integrated sensory examination concept tests
  • P-HUT – psychosensory home usage tests
  • COB – package studies
  • TURF – studies examining a series mix
  • PSM – pricing studies
  • SBR – sensory branding studies

 

The Training Unit specializes in instruction for the sensory field and provides services to a broad variety of industries. The department's services include:

  • Sensory training center for seminar, enrichment, and training
  • Setup of expert teams and internal tasting teams

 

Starting from May 2008, Analyst – Sensory Research and Training will launch a series of sensory day seminars for the Israeli food industry, to be held at the new training center built especially for this purpose.
During the seminar days lectures will be presented on the following topics:  The role of our senses in evaluating food; interaction between senses / tastes; food sensation as part of the quality assurance process; planning and conducting sensory research; sensory branding, and more.  In addition to lectures, most of which will be given by Analyst’s research staff, there will also be actual samplings and trials.
The purpose of these study days is to enrich and update the knowledge in the field, and is aimed at food technologists and engineers, brand managers, marketing managers and R&D managers.
