Wageningen UR -  Food & Biobased Research (WUR-FBR) is  a contract research organization and part of a leading European university in the Life Sciences. Researchers and students at Wageningen focus on the fields of food production, nutrition, health, nature, and the living environment.

The Consumer Science & Intelligent Systems group in FBR is one of the specialized research groups within Wageningen-UR

  • CSIS core business: joint development of product innovations
  • CSIS contribution: co-design of ‘product experiences’ in relation to moments and situations
  • CSIS’ realisation: observation and documentation of the consumer's food-related behaviour and emotional responses in controlled, but natural settings (the Restaurant of the Future)

For this, the group uses the input from three main research topics:

  • Perception of intrinsic and extrinsic product properties
  • Psychological factors related to food choice and eating and drinking behaviour
  • Situational factors related to food choice and eating and drinking behaviour
