Research for a healthy future
The CREA Food and Nutrition Research Centre uses a multidisciplinary approach to conduct research, training, and dissemination activities focused on food quality, health, and the prevention of food-related diseases.
Research explores food’s compositional, nutritional, and sensory aspects, examining how production and processing technologies influence these factors. The centre also studies the interactions between diet and nutritional status to identify food components and physiological mechanisms that support health and prevent diet-related diseases at both individual and population levels, considering consumer choices and consumption habits.
Disseminating knowledge
In addition to research, the centre promotes knowledge transfer through consensus documents on nutrition and public health, food education programs, consumer communication, and engagement with food policy actors. CREA Food and Nutrition’s work contributes to the broader goal of enhancing the Italian agrifood system and promoting its excellence.
